Overall Immigration
Interesting to think about when each of the major families arrived in the U.S.....
Andrus Family - Frederick Carlton's father John Wesley Andrus brought his family from Canada in 1904. Did John Wesley's great-grandfather William go to Canada from the U.S.???? We still don't know.
Curtis Family - Gertrude's grand-father Samuel Curtis Sr. came from England with wife and son (Samuel Jr.) from England in 1883.
Bevan Family - Howard's father Thomas Bevan came from Wales in 1870.
Bloss Family - Agnes' gggg grand-father Conrad Bloss came from Germany in 1742.
Secondary Families are Pomeroy, Marr (Patrick Marr, 1837, Ireland), Leininger (Johann Jacob, 1750, Alsance-Lorraine) and Arner (Johann Ulrich, before 1753, Switzerland).

I found "Nana" (Agnes Bloss Bevan) in 1920
Agnes Bloss, born in 1901, daughter of Sabina Arner and Milton Bloss is listed in the following U.S. Federal Censuses:
1910 - Agnes is 9 years old, living with her family in Sugarloaf, Luzern County, Pennsylvania
1920 - Agnes is 19, a live-in servant in the home of Mr. Lee Pardee, bank vice-president. She serves along with a cousin Viola M. Arner. They live in Hazelton, Luzern County, Pennsylvania
We've always known that Nana worked as a "nanny" in some one's home prior to being married. I have some wonderful embroidery that she did while there. It's so delicate and fine and old, it's ready to fall apart. Most of it is white thread on white cloth.
1930 - Agnes is now Agnes Bevan, age 29, having been married to Howard William Bevan in 1922. Interestingly, there are no children listed. Where are William, Robert and James? Howard is listed as a manager for A and P stores. They live on James Street, Hazelton; just one block west from Howard's family (Thomas, Sarah, Mary, Ethel and Ethel's husband Daniel Kaufmann). I guess I still need to find the kids. Perhaps they were staying with relative while Agnes and Howard moved (Papa moved for his job a lot).

New Info on Curtis Family of England and Rochester, NY
Descendants of Samuel Curtis, Ships Carpenter
Samuel Curtis (son of Samuel I and Hannah/Harriet)[i]
Born: 1849, Bristol, Gloucester, England[ii]
Christened: 16 Sept 1849[iii]
Married: (1) Eliza Argent, 11 Dec 1870
(2) Alice Jane Rouson, 3 Oct. 1894[iv]
Died: Before 1920
Occupation - Carpenter, Joiner, Ships Carpenter
Notes for Samuel Curtis II: This is one guy who moved around a lot. And he certain wasn’t home often. Though married at the age of 20, he and his first wife did not record a birth until 7 or 8 years later. Then, with two small children, he moved his family to the states in 1883. The destination listed is Canada. Did he intend to move there and get side-tracked? We do know that he shows up in Rochester in 1910, married to another woman. When during those intervening years, his first wife Eliza dies is not known, but by 1894 he is in Ontario and remarries. His two children were just 16 and 11. They are soon joined by two more children, one born in New York State and one in England. The family shows up in “Walthamstow” England on the 1901 UK Census, but they move back to the states the following year. I cannot find evidence that they ever lived in NYC. Samuel is not around after the 1910 US Census. Date of his death is unknown.
